Handing over of 200 Oxygen Concentrators received from JSW Group
Patna-31 May, 2021 ::- Bihar Foundation today handed over 200 oxygen concentrators to Disaster Management Department for onward transmission to Health Dept., Govt of Bihar. Industry Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain symbolically handed over these concentrators to Hon’ble Dy CM cum Disaster Management Minister, Smt Renu Devi who in turn handed over the concentrators to the Health Minister, Sri Mangal Pandey. Dy CM Sri Tarkishore Prasad presided over this event organized virtually. On ground, the truckload of concentrators were received by Sri Sushil Kumar, OSD, Bihar Foundation and handed over to the representative of Bihar Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd (BMSICL) at Indira Bhawan, RCS Path, Patna. The truck was promptly directed to Fatuha Warehouse of BMSICL from where the relief materials are dispatched all over Bihar. The concentrators are manufactured by BPL Medical technologies Pvt Ltd, Bangalore. They are of 5 litre per minute flow capacity.
Mr Ashwani Saxena from JSW Group said that in line with the vision of the JSW Group in helping the country, in every way possible during the ongoing pandemic, it has extended a support of 200 Oxygen Concentrators for the state of Bihar. Ranked among India's top business houses, JSW operates in the core sectors of Steel, Energy, Cement and Infrastructure and is helping build a new nation. Mr Saxena said that his Group is highly appreciative of the efforts of the Hon. CM of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar ji and Hon. Minister of Industries Shri. Shahnawaz Hussain ji in addressing the various bottlenecks in the state of Bihar for the overall upliftment of the healthcare infrastructure of state.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri RS Srivastav, CEO, Bihar Foundation explained that ever since the Foundation has been notified as Nodal Agency for receipt of relief in the state, it has received 25,000 N-95 masks, 477 oxygen concentrators, 100 pulse oximeter and 1 ISO Cryo Container of 20 Metric Ton capacity from various donors in India and abroad of which maximum are from the USA.
Sri Brijesh Mehrotra, ACS Industries explained how the Industries Dept rose to the occasion under the leadership and guidance of Hon’ble CM Sri Nitish Kumar and Industry Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain when the Dept was entrusted with the supply of liquid medical oxygen in the state in mid - April. An Oxygen Monitoring cell was set up in the Industry Dept and it coordinated between LMO suppliers and medical oxygen refills in the state and with the central govt and helped increase the liquid oxygen allocation for the state to 274 MT. It also coordinated with PESO for clearance of all pending refiller licenses and thus increased the number of refillers in the state from 11 in mid April to 23 by May end. The Dept is also setting up 10 PSA plants in 50-bedded sub divisional hospitals of which first will be ready at Tekari by 10th June, second at Naugachia by 12th June and the rest by 30th June. Besides, an oxygen refilling centre of 1500 cylinder per day capacity will be operational by 20th June at Hajipur.
Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Minister for Industries lauded the role of his officers in successfully organizing medical oxygen for the state in very short time and said that there was no shortage of oxygen in the state today. On other shortages, he requested the Health Minister to provide with fresh list of items needed at this stage and promised to contribute towards mitigating shortages in supply through his industry and human connect. He said that JSW Group, impressed with the policies and the working of the Bihar govt shall soon be setting up a 550 KLPD ethanol plant with an investment of Rs 500 crore in Supaul, Bihar.
Smt Renu Devi, Minister, Disaster Management Department lauded the role of Industry Dept and urged for one pulse oximeter for every Asha worker so that fight with covid could timely and effectively be done in the rural areas. She also emphasised need for adequate supply of medicines for black fungus.
Sri Mangal Pandey, Health Minister expressed his thanks for the efforts of Industry Dept. He said that all these oxygen concentrators will go to PHCs/HSCs in remote villages. He said that all the relief materials from Bihar Foundation shall be lifted immediately.
Sri Tarkishore Prasad, Dy CM thanked the efforts of his cabinet colleagues and lauded the efforts of Bihar Foundation in sourcing relief materials for the state. The meeting ended with flag off to the vehicle carrying 200 oxygen concentrators.
