8 suspected JMB members arrested from across country

Police have arrested eight suspected cadres of the banned Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from different parts of the country on Saturday.

Dhaka, Dec 10 (BDNEWS) – Police have arrested eight suspected cadres of the banned Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from different parts of the country on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the JMB action group second-in-command Enayetullah Jewel arrested following the bomb attack in Gazipur disclosed sensational information during interrogation in the joint interrogation cell (JIC).

BDNEWS Tangail correspondent reports: the Nagarpur thana police arrested a JMB militant and bomb maker Mir Suman from Chowhali on Saturday noon, 16 hours into the arrest of three persons with bomb manufacturing materials.

BDNEWS Gazipur correspondent adds: the police arrested Pirujali High School teacher Nazrul Islam (35) in Sadar upazila for his alleged link to the JMB. He was placed on a five-day remand.

A police source wishing not to be named said JMB commander Enayetullah Jewel arrested in Gazipur gave sensational statement during the interrogation in the JIC.

He opened his mouth on the bomb attacks on November 29 and December 1. He told the JIC that the youth who launched the bomb attack on the bar library in Gazipur hailed from the North Bengal.

He also confessed to the investigators that he is in charge of bomb attacks in the greater Dhaka.

BDNEWS Sherpur correspondent reports: police have arrested two youths named Arif (16) and Shohag (20) along with more than 100 Jihadi books and leaflets Saturday morning at about half past 11 from Kasba area of Sherpur town.

Police said while the two youths were going to Kamarpara area from Nagpara under Sherpur town in a rickshaw along with plastic bag laden with Jihadi books and leaflets, locals challenged them and found the Jihadi books and leaflets.

Later, locals captured them and informed the Sadar thana police.

Police rushed to the spot, arrested them and brought them to Sadar thana for quizzing.

BDNEWS Lalmonirhat correspondent adds: a special team of police have arrested a suspected JMB cadre Sunday morning from Kaliganj Sadar upazila of the district.

The arrestee was identified as Shahidul Islam, the super of Ashrafia Dakhil Madrasa and a suspect in August 17 serial bomb blasts across the country.

BDNEWS Narsingdi correspondent reports: the police arrested Hafej Md Saiful Islam from Purba Brahmandi and Saiful Islam alias Doulat Khan from Puber Gaon village under Shibpur upazila on Friday night suspecting them to be JMB members.

BDNEWS Habiganj correspondent adds: the police arrested Abu Saed Md Shamsuddoha (35) from in front of a gas field at Shahjibazar under Madhabpur upazila on suspicion of his being involved with the JMB.

He hails from Naogaon. He was arrested as he was wandering around the gas field.
